Obituary for Zola Simons

Simons, Zola Lee age 70, of Brooklyn Center died from colon cancer on May 9, 2016. Zola was born December 2, 1945 in Minneapolis to Arve and Olga (Sundeen) Simons. She was a 1963 graduate of Eden Prairie HS, and long-time hair stylist at Dumont’s in White Bear Lake. Zola was known for her love of music, flair for fashion and decorating, and outstanding culinary skills. Outgoing and always “up for anything,” Zola thoroughly enjoyed attending family events and celebrations. Staying close to loved ones was an important value she learned from her parents, and Zola found joy in any occasion that brought friends and family together. Preceded in death by parents Arve & Olga Simons, brothers Orin, Wayne, & Jimmy Simons, and sister Susanne Arvis Sullivan. Survived by brothers Earl (Ruthanne) Simons of Brooklyn Center & Glenn Simons of Eden Prairie, son Lane Ukura (wife Tracy, grandsons Lane Jr & Noah) of Rhode Island, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
