Obituary for William "Bill" Opitz

William "Bill" Opitz, age 89 of Osseo, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025 surrounded by his family. Bill taught for over 30 years in the Richfield School District. He loved spending time at the cabin on Platte Lake. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, collecting guns and trap shooting. He was a proud member of the Osseo American Legion and Hopkins Elks. Preceded in death by parents, Alvin & Hilaria; and sister Yvonne. Survived by brother, Alvin “Bud,” children, Michael (Beth), Bob, Michele (Scott); grandchildren, Breanne, Brooke, Hanna (Drew); great-grandchildren, Greer, Blair and Webb. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30AM Friday, Feb 7, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Luncheon to follow Mass at the Osseo-Maple Grove Legion. Interment at St. Vincent’s Cemetery at a later date.
