Vivian Ramsay
October 26, 1934 - May 17, 2025
Our family shares the passing of our Mother, Vivian Ramsay, on May 17, 2025. She was surrounded by family and knew their love and devotion to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2005.
Vivian Vinnell was born October 26, 1934, in Russell Manitoba. She met our Dad, Donald Ramsay, and they married in February 1953. The newlyweds moved to Minnesota and eventually landed in Brooklyn Park, raising a family of five children, Gail (Steve), Sandy, Bill (LaDena), Liz (Larry) and Laurie (Chris).
The family fondly recalls family life of evening suppers, after school snacks, backyard barbecues, visits to the lake, family trips, countless activities and the many directions that five busy children and their friends took the family.
Mom’s world was her kids. She loved them each fiercely and was very proud of the people they became in life. She also treasured her dear friends and family from back home as well as new friends here in Minnesota. She enjoyed travel, bingo, casinos (she was strangely good at Keno), watching reality tv (Judge Judy every day at 4:00pm) and she was a wonderful cook and baker, teaching us all skills to be successful in preparing meals. Her mainstay was family.
Once grandchildren began coming along, she was Grammie to them. She was always up to some mischievous activity with them such as having endless treats together, sharing her candy stash or watching a PG-13 movie with them when they were definitely not old enough. She would often say “Shhh – don’t tell your Mother”.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jill (Taylor and Callie), Erin (Kade and Jordan), Sean and Cami (Kimber and Ashlynn), Colton, Cheyenne, Cierra, Christopher, Lindsay, Ellen, Addie, Sydney and Sam will all miss her very much.
Mom had a 90 year run. She lived in her home managing cleaning, repairs and her large yard. She loved being outside and was often seen mowing, trimming, gardening and raking.
She is now with Dad watching over us and beaming in pride of our family and the life they shared.
