Obituary for Teiawana Burton

Teiawana "Teia" Burton was born to the union of Garrett W. Burton, Jr. and Mayme "Bonnie" Burton on January 29th, 1967 in St. Louis, MO. She was the only daughter of this union. She was preceded in death by her father, Garrett.

Teia attended Pine Lawn Elementary School and graduated from Normandy High School. Teia was employed with Western Union and U.S. Bank as a Post Closer/Reviewer and ACS/Xerox Systems until her health started declining in 2013.

Teia was fun-loving, loved to dance, especially to a Prince song, whom we all know Prince held a very special place in her heart. She enjoyed watching action movies and NASCAR, and giving people advice. Teia was outgoing and loved to be active when her health allowed her to. She even volunteered as Parking Lot Security at Paisley Park Studios. Teia was very family oriented. She loved all of her cousins, aunts and uncles. She loved her Stepfather, Geno. She would call him when she needed car advice.

Teia loved and cherished her only daughter, India. She did an extremely great job in raising her as a single parent. She loved her mom, Bonnie, and shared a lot of her personality traits.

To continue cherishing her memory are: Her Daughter, India G. Burton; Mother, Mayme (Bonnie) Burton McAllister; Stepfather, Geno McAllister; Stepsister, Kimberly McAllister; Stepmother, Estella Tolbert; Uncles, James E. Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
