Obituary for Susan A. George

Susan George’s Obituary Susan Ann George (Perry), age 63, passed away on Tuesday, March 27th, 2019 at her home in Corcoran, MN surrounded by her loving family and friends. Sue was born on November 26th, 1955 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Ernest and Marcella Perry. She graduated from North High School, Minneapolis in 1973. After high school, she attended Mankato State University and obtained her degree in Park and Recreation. It was during her time in college that she would meet her future husband, Loren George. Sue and Loren married in 1984 and went on to have 3 children.

Sue was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her children and 3 grandchildren. She loved spending time at the family cabin in Cokato, MN and going on vacations all over the world. She always enjoyed planning parties and bringing people together. She had a kind and caring soul, one of her favorite jobs was working as the recreation director at Nicollet Nursing Home, planning activities and providing companionship to the geriatric population. Sue also enjoyed working with children, she ran her own daycare for many years, was a girl scout troop leader, and worked as a paraprofessional at Rockford Schools.

Sue was also proud of her finnish heritage, she was a finlander and wasn’t afraid to show it. In her later years in life, she became focused on trying to learn as much as she could about her ancestry. Journeying through multiple small towns in Minnesota, and even taking a trip to Finland. Her goal was always to try to find a long lost relative whom she could make a connection with and bring joy to their lives. A goal which she accomplished!

Sue was a source of positive energy and left a lasting impact on anyone she met. She was also a fighter, and lived a long and fulfilling life while fighting cancer for 26 years. A loving friend, a kind mother, and a friendly stranger. Sue was always there to lend a helping hand or an ear to listen whenever it was needed.

She will be sorely missed.

Sue George is survived by her husband, Loren George; children, Jason (Elizabeth) and their children Riley and Connor, of Lino lakes, MN, Rebecca (Ezekiel) of Duluth, MN, and Sarah (Joseph) and their child Carson, of Maple Grove, MN; siblings, Douglas (Karen) Perry of Morgan Hill, California, Thomas Perry of Little Canada, Minnesota. Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
