Steven Rody Skorich, age 77, of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in his apartment on September 17, 2026.  Steve was born and raised near Grand Rapids, Minnesota and was a 1967 graduate of Greenway High School in Coleraine, MN.

A dedicated scientist with a passion for helping others, Steve earned his degree in chemistry from the University of Minnesota. He devoted his professional life to working as a Senior Chemist in the laboratories at Medtronic, where his career of over 48 years was centered on researching and helping to develop safe, life-saving materials for pacemakers and other medical implants.  His work made a lasting impact on countless lives.

Steve loved reading (everything … history, science of all fields, woodworking, sci-fi), sketchpads with his artwork, calligraphy, and photography.  He was a musician, playing guitar and drums as well as the trombone.  He loved travelling to visit friends or simply to enjoy the view.

Steve was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rody Skorich and Angeline (Njegovan) Skorich of Grand Rapids, MN.  He is survived by his loving brothers, Jeff (Val) and Mark (Linda); his sister, Suzanne (Enrique); as well as seven nieces and nephews (Tonya, Mark, Will, Tim, Michael, Jeff, and Blake) and fifteen grand-nieces and grand-nephews, all of whom brought great joy to his life.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated.  A gathering for family and friends is planned 4-7 PM on Friday, October 9,2026 at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home.

 His ashes will be interred alongside his parents in a family plot at the Lakeview Cemetery in Coleraine, Minnesota.
