Shirley Ann Bentley (Kiefat)

Our beloved mother, Shirley Bentley, passed away unexpectedly on July 1st at her memory care residence in Maple Grove, MN.

Shirley was born in rural Aneta, North Dakota, February 15th, 1936. She graduated from Aneta High School, class of 1954. Knowing that farm life was not for her, she moved to Minneapolis and lived with her brother and sister-in-law while working at IDS.  In 1955 she married Dean Bentley, who moved to the “cities” to be with her. They raised their family in Brooklyn Center, MN.

Mom always wore a smile.  She was a good listener and gracious to all. She enjoyed baking and crossword puzzles.  She loved her life with Dean, and their many decades of adventures together until his death in 2022.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Roxanne Bentley (Thomas Smith) of Silver Spring, MD, Daryl Bentley of Anoka, MN, and Don Bentley of Sunnyvale, CA; her brother, Raymond Kiefat of Hoyt Lakes, MN, and her sister, Millie Mork of St. Louis Park, MN; along with numerous nieces and nephews, and genuine folks who were like family.

Visitation will be held at 10AM with a Funeral Service at 11AM on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 6000 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center, MN. A luncheon and family interment will immediately follow.
