Obituary for Sada P. Sivan

Sada P. Sivan, age 75 of Brooklyn Park, passed away at his home on Friday, October 5, 2018.

Born during WWII and before India declared independence, P. Sadasivan was born in Kalahasthi, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Sada married Jaya on February 9, 1969, and they both emigrated to the United States (Minnesota) soon after. Sada became a naturalized American citizen on December 21, 1977.

Sada was a true intellectual: an engineer, a computer scientist, a financial adviser, and more. He enjoyed doing problem sets for fun and socialized by playing card games—especially Bridge and Hearts. He rarely found a vegetarian food he didn’t like, but he preferred his wife’s homemade South Indian cooking above all else. Sada was blessed to have found Jesus later in life.

Sada is survived by his wife Jaya, son Vasanth (Mark), daughter Vidya, and granddaughter Maya. He also leaves behind several siblings and other extended family in his motherland of India as well as family and friends across the United States. He is preceded in death by his father A. Parameswaran, and his mother, P. Seshasayanee.

All memorial events will happen on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. immediately followed by a celebration of life service at 10:00 a.m., both at Pilgrim United Methodist Church (4325 Zachary Lane North, Plymouth, MN 55442). Cremation will occur at noon at Lakewood Cemetery (3600 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55408).

In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials may be made in Sada’s name to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (https://www.lbda.org/donate).

I just can't say enough about the help we received in planning my husband's funeral at the Osseo Evans Nordby funeral home. It was a very difficult time and they were so caring, sensitive, helpful and very organized in making the funeral go smoothly. The funeral home in Osseo felt so welcoming and comfortable also. Tina was extremely helpful in guiding our family with planning the funeral and went out of her way in finding the right memorial folder for my husband. I would highly recommend them. Thank you all.
