Age 70, of Brooklyn Center, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Forever loved husband of wife Patty (Gellerman); father of sons Tigre (Keo) and Graham; grandchildren Nathan, Natalie and Nicholas and two great-grandchildren; brother Elton (Debbie); many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Bernie Sr.; mother Inell Isabel Campbell; brothers Larry Isabel, Lamar Isabel, Bernie, Jr. and sister Doris Jackson. He is fondly remembered by family and friends.
Ron was born in Memphis, TN and moved to Minneapolis in his teens. He attended Southwest Minnesota State (College) University on a basketball scholarship where he met his wife. They were married 43 years. They raised their sons in Brooklyn Center. Ron loved searching for and listening to music (esp. Smokey Robinson), shooting pool (especially with his brother Elton) and family gatherings. He first worked for the former Community Involvement Programs and then many years for Dungarvin. He was a gentle and kind man.
Many thanks to the Cardiology ICU medical team at MHealth Fairview U of M Medical Center-East Bank who assisted Ron during his stay. Special thanks to nurse Agim for his kindness and compassion.
Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 7025 Halifax Ave N., Brooklyn Center, MN. Visitation on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Evans Nordby Funeral Home, Brooklyn Center (763-533-3000). Interment, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery, Osseo.
