Richard Leroy Hoium of Brooklyn Park went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2025, having lived 96 years as a devoted Christian. Richard proudly served in the US Marines in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Beverly (Nelson) Hoium of 67 years, his parents Andrew and Florence Hoium, siblings Marvel, Doris, Clifford, Kenneth, Stanley, Fern, and Lloyd.
Survivors include his children, Melody (Michael) Sanford and Dean (Barbara) Hoium; grandchildren Rachael (Matt), Alicia (Aaron), Evan (Allie), Benjamin (Caitlin), Elizabeth, 6 great grandchildren; Taylor, Reese, Emerson, Jenson, Molly, and Colter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard was a North High graduate, and Northwestern Institute Graduate as a Tradesman in Electronics. Richard worked for 45 plus years as an Electronics Repair Specialist. His life was filled with his loving family, where he enjoyed attending all his family’s various activities, cabin life, extensive travel, golf, fishing, hunting, square dancing, being an active member in church functions including the annual garage sale and enjoyed their winter stays with friends in Texas. He was fond of “going to the moon”,” throwing you in the pond”, and being “fair to midland”. We are happy to report that he is once again “perfect in every way”!
Funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, May 23 with visitation one hour prior at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, where Richard was a Charter Member, 5929 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Center, MN.
