The best fisherman to ever roam the lakes in Minnesota, Richard “John” Emerick, passed away on September 29, 2021 at the age of 54. John was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and spent some time in Arizona in his 20's where he was involved in a serious automobile accident that changed his life. He returned to Minnesota where he spent the past 30 years splitting his time between Osseo and Isle, working and fishing. John joined his father, Richard, and two beloved dogs. Duke and Wyatt in Heaven. He is survived by many family members and more wonderful and caring friends than can be counted.
There was no doubt that John was happiest when he had a line in the water, waiting for that next walleye, crappie or perch to take his bait. We are comforted to know he now has all of eternity to fish in God's Great Lakes where we'll all join him one day.
John touched so many with his kindness, generosity, friendship and appreciation of others in his life. He was blessed with so many friends that cared deeply for him. He
was one of the most kind, humble, caring, loving, gentle, sweet and compassionate people you could ever hope to meet. It was his love of family, friends and fishing that fueled his passion for life despite the many obstacles placed in front of him.
For those of us who were blessed to be in John's life, we were the lucky ones. He will never be forgotten and will be missed forever. A Celebration of John’s life will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, October 7, 2021 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 710 E. Broadway, Osseo, with visitation starting at 9AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Fishing Has No Boundaries or Camp Courage in John's name - both organizations John enjoyed helping.

I highly recommend the team at Evans Nordby. This past weekend, they assisted as we buried my mom. Twelve years ago, they assisted as we buried my dad. Brittney and the staff are so comforting, easy to work with and compassionate. They make every decision simple, and the whole process as painless as possible. I am so happy that we chose this funeral home, and encourage you to consider using them in your time of need.
