Richard “Dick” Calvin Welk, born February 27, 1945, peacefully passed away on August 29, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones after an eight-year battle with Parkinson’s. He will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Richard’s family was very important to him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Fay; daughters, Monika (Jason) Albeck & Andrea Holland; his five grandchildren “his pride and joys”, Tanner, Landon, Logan Albeck, Madeline & Austin Holland; his sisters, Marilyn Lilyquist & Judy Gravelle; sister-in-law, Sonia Welk; and many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Estelle Welk; siblings, John, Ronald, and Donald Welk, Charolette Wesen, and Gwen Workman; son-in-law, Ryan Holland; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Lloyd & Doris Kentoph.
Richard grew up in Brevik, MN, near the shores of Leech Lake, and graduated from Remer High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, before moving to the Twin Cities in 1969 to pursue his lifelong dream of owning his own business. In 1979, Richard and Fay purchased Osseo Meat Market, where they poured their heart into a business well known for quality service & a commitment of treating every customer with respect. Throughout his career, Richard was known for his hard work, dependability, and the pride he took in serving others. His professional life reflected the same values he carried in his personal life: commitment, integrity, and respect for others.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM at Fisher Farms in Dayton, MN. A Memorial Service will begin at 12:30 PM, with a luncheon to follow. We encourage you to come and share stories and jokes in Dick’s honor.
Dick/Dad, we miss you immensely and will cherish our wonderful memories forever.
