Lunde, Raymond H., age 84 of Maple Grove, passed away Sept 30, 2019. Colonel Lunde had a successful military career in the National Guard and Army Reserve, retiring after 37 years of service. He ended his 40 year civilian career as Chief Executive Officer of the 88th Regional Readiness Command. He was an avid bird hunter going on many hunting trips with family and friends. He was active in various community affairs serving on two school bonding bills committees for ISD 279, as a member on one and a co-chair of the other. Served as Director and Co-director on the North Central Accreditation Assn Steering Committee at Osseo Senior High School. Served on the Minnesota Military Museum Board of Directors for over 19 years, serving on the Finance Committee as Vice President and President. Longtime member of the American Legion. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend; he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need – his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. Preceded in death by parents, Carl & Charlotte. Survived by wife of 63 years, Shirley; daughters, Vicki (Daniel) Doar, Sandra (Gordon) Hofman, Joyce Lunde (James Pearson), Susan (Peter) Hunt; grandchildren, Amanda (Bradley) Veit, Jessica Doar, Kari (Jordan) Hamm, Kaitlin Hofman, Jacob Moter, Carter Hunt, Samantha Hunt; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Owen, Evelyn, Quinn. Funeral Service 11:15AM Wed 10/9/19 at Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel, 1 Tower Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55450. Visitation 1 hour prior to service at the chapel. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery following the service. Please join us for lunch at the Osseo American Legion following the service.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
