Ralph was born to Barbara (Flaherty) and Dick Loftus in North Minneapolis in 1960.He was a loving son, brother, and Uncle. He started his career as a cook and manager at various restaurants, including Marc’s Big Boys. He went on to become a licensed electrician at IBEW Local 292. He was a very hard worker and loved to teach others. He received a second chance at life when he received a double lung transplant on February 9, 2008.We are so thankful for his unknown donor, who gave him the ultimate gift of life. We have cherished so many more memories with him. Since then, he battled a lot of other medical complications, but kept on fighting through it all. He served on the Hope Chest News board and was known to be a positive advocate to others waiting for lung transplants and their families. He loved bowling, golfing, fishing, classic rock music, Nascar racing, and most of all his family. A special thank you to the staff at Fresenius in Mora and University of Minnesota Medical Center for all the care he received throughout his lung transplant journey. He will be missed by all.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
