Porter Lee "Sonny" Montgomery, age 91, of Pine River, MN, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Park River Estates Care Center in Coon Rapids, MN. Please join us for a gathering of family and friends from 11 AM-12:30 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 34 2nd St. NE, Osseo, MN.

Porter was born on July 13, 1935 to James and Bertha (Ratcliff) Montgomery and was the oldest of their 10 children. He married Doris Corah on May 11, 1957. Sonny worked as a heavy equipment operator for C.S. McCrossen for 25 years. He and Doris retired to their lake home in Pine River. Sonny had a passion for bowling, fishing, and gardening-he especially loved growing tomatoes. He also enjoyed turning agates into beautiful jewelry. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren.

Porter is survived by sons, Mark (Nancy), Paul (Cheri), Scott (Julie), and Tom (Tammy); 7 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Doris.
