Obituary for Patricia Jane Kauffmann

Patricia Jane Kauffmann, age 92, of Maple Grove, MN. Born May 30, 1931, in Minneapolis, MN was the third daughter born to James and Mary McLaughlin.

With Irish eyes smiling, Patricia passed away peacefully knowing her Lord and Savior on December 21, 2023. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. Patricia was born in Minneapolis, MN and grew up in north Minneapolis where she resided for more than 70 years. Pat and her late husband Ed moved to Maple Grove, to enjoy their retirement and be closer to their family. She attended St. Bridget’s Elementary and graduated from St. Anthony of Padua High School in NE Mpls. For many years she worked alongside Ed as a bookkeeper for Village Builders.

Patricia was survived by sons, Jeffery Kauffmann (Donna) and James Kauffmann; daughters, Kathryn Baily (Paul), Margaret Monsrud (Mike), Abbey Moses (Steve); 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; along with relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edwin Kauffmann; her parents, Mary and James Mclaughlin; sisters, Dorothy Goodrich and Mary Jerry.

She was a wonderful mother who was always there for anyone who needed her, especially the underdog. She never said no to volunteering. For over a decade she was a PTA mom at St. Bridget’s school. For many years she volunteered at De La Salle High School as a nurse’s aide. She mended many knees but was more known for listening to many teens and their problems. The high school kids loved her and affectionately called her Mrs. K. She loved to laugh and was best known for her sense of humor. She was devoted Catholic and was a member of The Church of St. Vincent de Paul.

After God, family was the most important thing in her life. She loved her family and spent every summer vacationing with them at Gull lake. She spent many snowy winters in Macro Island, FL with her husband Ed where she spent many an early morning shelling. Pat taught us the importance of love, kindness and gratitude.

After people her greatest love was for animals particularly dogs.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
