Nancy L. Tuorila

Tuorila, Nancy Leone (Sutton), age 83, formerly of Brooklyn Park passed away June 2, 2025 at her assisted living facility in Champlin. Preceded in death by her husband Marvin Tuorila, parents Ivan and Inez Sutton, sister Ruby Wilson.  She is survived by her daughter Sheryl Jorgensen and precious grandson Finn Jorgensen, her sister Lois Diller, brothers Carl Sutton and Ralph Sutton, and many nieces and nephews.  Nancy was a caregiver to many and will be dearly remembered. 

Nancy was born on the farm in Coin, Minnesota July 22^nd, 1941.  Eventually the family moved to Nevis, Minnesota and Nancy graduated from Nevis High School in 1959.  She married Marvin Tuorila in 1961 and moved to Minneapolis.  There she went through flight attendant training but did not want to relocate to Detroit.  Daughter Sheryl was born in 1965 and the family settled in Brooklyn Park.

Nancy was a dedicated caregiver.  She cared for her husband and daughter while helping her parents as they aged.  Family was a priority for Nancy and she never missed a gathering for the Suttons or Tuorilas, even planning many of the Sutton family reunions. After years working for Norwest Bank, Nancy took on a new career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for assisted living and nursing home residents.  She gave compassionate, respectful care to her people and was dearly loved for it. 

Spirituality was also very important to Nancy.  She was a member of Brooklyn Park Evangelical Free Church, now Revive Church, for over forty years.  She was involved in Adult Bible Study and led a grief share group for years.  She met regularly with  many friends in her Gap Sisters group from church.

A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, September 7 at 1pm at Braham Event Center – 655 8^th Street SW Braham, MN 55006.  Bingo starts at 2pm with a light luncheon and burial following at Maple Ridge Free Church Cemetery in Stanchfield, MN.
