Obituary for Michael R. Carter

Michael Richard Carter

Mike (aka Carter), age 53, of Maple Grove, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 surrounded by his family and enveloped in love.

A life-long Minnesotan, Mike was born September 25, 1967 to Richard Carter & Rochelle (Shelly) Heichert. At an early age Mike was bit by the fishing bug and turned his hobby into a part-time career which he balanced with his passion for teaching and shaping the minds of elementary age children. Later in life Mike jumped into the IT sales world and never looked back (although anyone who knew Mike knows fishing remained a constant throughout his life). Mike diligently passed down his love for fishing to his amazing son, Ryan, and took extreme pleasure in sharing fishing tips, spots and the Father/Son time it afforded them.

Mike is survived by his wife of 16 years, Amanda, son Ryan, snuggle buddy Jaz (golden retriever), as well as his parents, Richard (Patrice) Carter & Shelly (Herb) Heichert; brothers Steve (Les) & Greg; sister Patty (Brian); nieces Lauren (Drew), Erika, Kayla (Keith); nephew Brandon; and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Evans-Norby Funeral Home (Osseo, MN) on Friday, July 23rd from 1-4pm.

Our son recently passed away and of course you never expect to have to deal with this for your children so my wife and I were not only devastated but didn’t know what to do or where to turn next. Evans-Nordby was recommended to us by our Priest and I’m so glad he did. From the moment I talked to Tina on the phone I could tell we were in good hands as she took care of every detail. We met with her the next day and she went through all the aspects of what we were to expect in the coming days, weeks, then months ahead. Every employee we had contact with at Evans-Nordby was kind, compassionate and extremely professional. Thanks Tina and to all at Evans-Nordby for making an unbearable experience at least tolerable.
