Michael "Mike" Gillette

Mike Gillette of Osseo, MN went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 22, 2026. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Hope (Daniels) Gillette; his daughter, Tracy Gillette, and her partner, David; his son, Steve Gillette, and his wife, Rachelle; and his daughter, Nicole (Gillette) Marohn, and her husband, Brendan. He was a proud Papa to nine grandchildren, Jackson, Winston, Aubrey, Charlie, Halle, Nora, Arlo, Esme, and Isla. His brother Kevin Gillette, with his wife Beth, and brother Donald Gillette, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Audree Cook and Harry Gillette, and his beloved daughter, Stephanie Gillette.

Mike's career was in carpentry, and he oversaw numerous commercial construction projects across the Twin Cities. He especially enjoyed the comradery he shared with his crews. A drive around town would regularly be commentated by him detailing the work he performed on a building. His loyalty shined through his work, with 50+ years dedicated to his employer and friends at George F. Cook Construction.

Mike had a lifelong love of collecting stamps. In retirement, he was able to turn that passion into something even more meaningful, working at Golden Valley Stamp Store and sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. 

He also treasured his time at the family cabin on Young Lake in Mission Township. The cabin was a special place for Mike—a place to relax, tend to the property, spend time with family, and enjoy the simple pleasures of being together. 

Above all, Mike will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was patient, steady, selfless, and always dependable. Mike will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026 at Church of the Open Door located at 9060 Zanzibar Ln N, Maple Grove, MN 55311. Visitation 10-11; Service 11-noon; Lunch to follow.
