Mary Lou Schoeppler (née Borg), age 91, of Robbinsdale, MN, previously Brooklyn Park, drifted into the arms of her Lord in the earliest hours of December 15.
Mary and husband, Jerry, celebrated 69 years of marriage earlier this year. They spent those years side by side, as each other’s helpers, soulmates, and partners in sharing their great love with others, wherever they went together.
Mary was well-loved by so many – from her two children, Tim and Beth, their spouses and her grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and the friends who thought of her as their mother or aunt, or sister despite no real relation—to the hundreds of band students she taught, the dozens of band teachers she managed, her colleagues at Schmitt Music Co., the members of the churches Jerry served as pastor, the friends they made through their business ventures, and pretty much anyone she met more than once.
She had a way of charming people with her mix of a generous, open heart and a surprising wit – a trait that continued through her last days in the hospital after a fall. We miss her.
We will celebrate her life on Saturday, December 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Brooklyn United Methodist Church in Brooklyn Park, MN.
Memorials preferred to Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, Operation Smile, or the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

I highly recommend the team at Evans Nordby. This past weekend, they assisted as we buried my mom. Twelve years ago, they assisted as we buried my dad. Brittney and the staff are so comforting, easy to work with and compassionate. They make every decision simple, and the whole process as painless as possible. I am so happy that we chose this funeral home, and encourage you to consider using them in your time of need.
