April 18, 1938 - August 4, 2025
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Marvin Richard Conyers entered peacefully into the presence of Jesus on August 4, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Born in Superior, Wisconsin in 1938, Marvin "Marv" was known for his dedication to his family, church and community, devoting his life to service to the Lord.
A 1956 graduate of Northwestern High School in Maple, Wisconsin, Marv attended Bethel University his freshman year of college and transferred to University of Wisconsin - Superior where he graduated with a B.S. in Geography and Social Studies Secondary Education. During the summers while he was in college Marv worked with his father on the ore boats on Lake Superior. Following graduation, he attended Bethel Seminary for a year and then joined the U.S. Coast Guard as a reservist.
He and his wife, Shari, were married in 1964. After teaching at his high school alma mater for a year and then Amery High School for two years, he and Shari moved to St. Louis, Missouri where Marv had a career with the U.S. Department of Defense as a cartographer for 34 years. During their time in St. Louis, Marv and Shari raised two children, Mark and Jenna, and Marv helped start two churches. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School, leading the music, singing in the choir and serving in whatever capacity was needed at church.
After retiring, he and Shari relocated back up north to Maple Grove, Minnesota to be near family.
Marv was an active, caring grandpa who was very involved in his grandchildren’s lives. He was his grandkids’ biggest fans, showing up for choir and band concerts, soccer games, cross country meets, birthdays, graduations and vacations.
During retirement, Marv continued to serve everyone out of his deep faith and love for Jesus. He volunteered in his community, at a local nursing home, and at his church as a choir member and elder board member. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the south shore of Lake Superior where he grew up.
Marv will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Shari; son, Mark (Karen) Conyers; daughter, Jenna Soule; grandchildren, Connor Soule, Alli Soule, and Ashley DeBartolo. Marv is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Dagney (Esselstrom) Conyers; his sister, Sharon (Dale) Mausolf; and son in law, Jay Soule.
