Marjorie Lois (Wolean) Johnson of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, passed away peacefully the morning of November 27, 2019. She was 98 years old.
Marjorie, daughter of George and Marie (Super) Wolean, was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, where she attended Denfeld High School and Saint Scholastica College. She married her high school sweet heart Eugene Johnson in 1943, and they moved to Buffalo, New York. She raised their four children – Susan, David, Peter, and Mark – and then continued her education at Buffalo State College. After earning a master’s, she taught exceptional education at Herbert Hoover Middle School. She developed innovative programs for her students and was widely respected for her work. Retiring in 1980, she and her husband enjoyed boating, travel, skiing, birding and welcoming family and friends to their cabin in the rolling hills south of Buffalo. After her husband’s untimely death in 1984, she moved to Minneapolis to be closer to family members. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by three of her children Susan Johnson Cassell (husband Art), David Johnson (life partner Dharmasuri), and Mark Johnson (wife Roberta); four grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished.
Private services will be held.
Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
