Obituary for Marilyn Jean Georges

Marilyn Jean (Kinghorn) Georges passed away in the comfort of her home on March 17, 2019 at the age of 79 after a very long, courageous battle with cancer. Marilyn was born on May 4, 1939 to Loren and Mary (Hulburt) Kinghorn. She grew up in Osseo, MN and enjoyed hunting and fishing with her father and going to the cabin with family and friends. She was a Girl Scout leader and a volunteer with Zion Lutheran Church while her children were growing up. Marilyn’s strong work ethic was seen in all she did. She was a loyal employee and insisted on giving her all in every job she ever had.She instilled this value in her children and granddaughter. Friends and family will remember her generous heart, witty personality and open arms for everyone.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Patrick, Janet and Brian Georges; granddaughter Erica; siblings Loren (Evelyn) Kinghorn, Robert (Marlene) Kinghorn, Charles (Sue) Kinghorn and Marge (Ed) Mabin. She was also honored to be called Grandma by Robin (Greg) Gauvin, Cheyanne Kotz, Kyle (Delia) Kotz, Ryliegh, Kiera, Danica and Loki and will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
