Obituary for Margaret M. Borer

Borer, Margaret, age 98, of Brooklyn Park, passed away on December 18, 2019.

Once upon a time in Hollywood MN a beautiful Irish lass, Margaret Mary McDonald, married a handsome Dutch gentleman, Earl Francis Borer. The rest is history and family legacy. Our dear Margaret passed away Wednesday December 18th at the age of 98. The family she cherished supported her throughout her journey home. Mag and Earl, married 66 years, loved one another and raised their family to love and respect one another and all people throughout the world. Previous to marriage she spent time serving her country as a WAVE in the Navy. She was even involved in a very special trip to Cuba. Her devotion as a founding member of St. Gerard’s parish in Brooklyn Park MN lives on today.

First and foremost, Margaret was a Mother. Her eight children, 19 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren would all agree that she specialized in Mothering and caring for them all. While setting examples that will never be forgotten she influenced a generation to follow. Her belief in Jesus and his wish for Peace inspired her to speak out, act and become a voice around the community. Spending time with her Sisters of Peace gave her great joy, jail time and accomplishments that fulfilled her. Her dedication to feeding the less fortunate with the Loaves and Fishes organization was another way she shared her kindness and love to those in need. Margaret was a strong personality who left no doubt where she stood on most issues of the day. Her daughter and granddaughters benefited greatly from this strong woman that so many called Mag.

Dancing was not only a pastime for Mag, it was her passion. Teaching the kids the Irish jig and then performing it in St Paul on St. Paddy’s day was classic. She loved watching the children play and would seldom miss a hockey, soccer, lacrosse or dance activity that any of the children participated in. She demonstrated Motherhood, Peacefulness and Strength touching so many with her life of conviction and special love for children. Those who have met her will never forget her. Her love for Earl and family, legacy of community activism and assisting those in need will be forever missed. In life she often found her own way home. As she passed, she found her own way again. This elegant Irish lady was healthy and strong. That strength made her journey calm and peaceful.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Earl and son Kenneth. She is survived by her children and their families: Paula & Jim Borer, Rachel & Shannon Borer - Carter, Emma; Kristi & Justin Borer - Keagen, Brayden; Amanda & Nathan Borer - Davontey, Kailah; Janet & Tom Borer, Linnea - Gillian and Brian; Raven & John Borer, Natalie & Casey Borer, Brittany & Brady Borer - Melvin, Abby & Riley Borer - Theo and Mollie; Sherry & David Borer, Bergen, Tessa & Mickey Spencer - Lennon, Nellie; Ellen & Kevin Borer, Brynne & Eric Borer, Allie and Charlie; Dawn & Steve Borer, Jack and Madi; John & Maggie Borer, Tyler, Dylan and Samantha. These people are wonderful. They went over and above in every possible way to help us with funeral arrangements, the visitation, service and burial, despite the fact that we had a limited budget. They were patient, kind, and treated us like family. This is a funeral home you can trust. Thank you, Evans-Nordby.
