Obituary for Marcella H. Pilarski

Marcella H. Pilarski (Wochnick), age 90, of Osseo, MN, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Marcella, generally known as Marcie, was born October 28, 1933 and grew up on the family farm in Opole, MN along with her four sisters and three brothers. Marcie, the 3^rd oldest in her family, was her dad’s early muscle on the farm helping with the outdoor chores and the occasional wrestling match entertaining her father, Thomas. Not wanting to stay on a farm and looking for work after graduating high school, Marcie moved to Minneapolis along with her sister Angeline. Frances moved about a year later and the three sisters rented a house together. Marcie started working as a phone switchboard operator.

Marcie married Leonard Pilarski on May 29, 1956 in Holdingford, MN near Marcie’s home town of Opole. Shortly after marrying they moved to Coon Rapids, MN and eventually resided on a hobby farm in Osseo, MN in 1965. Marcie and Leonard went on to have eight children, four boys and four girls. Their original plan was for six but ending with four girls and two boys seemed out of balance, so they had two more boys delivered. Marcie was a hard worker, loving mother, and a wonderful and talented homemaker supporting her growing family that never ended. Marcie’s many hobbies included making flower bouquets for many of her children’s weddings, baking, gardening, sewing, canning, bingo, polka dancing and the occasional casino road trip. Marcie always kept busy and one thing she never learned how to do was turn on a television as she never had the time for it.

Preceded in death by husband, Leonard and son, Ronald. Survived by children, Michelle (Michael) Wensole, Roxanne (Mark) Davis, Keith (Paula) Pilarski, Lunette (Steven) Sorenson, Janel (Peter) Durand, Daryl (Dawn) Pilarski, and Craig (Rachel) Pilarski; siblings, George Wochnick, LaVerne Klisch, and Frances Eiden; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and other family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Monday, August 5, 2024, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93^rd Ave. N., Brooklyn Park, with visitation after 9:30 AM at the church. Interment St. Vincent's Cemetery, Osseo.
