Obituary for Leona Sarah Parks Horner

Leona Sarah “Toni” Parks Horner was born April 24, 1921 in Badoura Township near Nevis, Minnesota, the daughter of Daniel and Lillian (Fox) Parks. She passed away September 7, 2018 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

On September 19, 1942 she was united in marriage to Marion Robert “Pat” Horner in Norfolk, Virginia.

Toni enjoyed baking, and created numerous wedding cakes for family weddings. She was well known for the wonderful quilts she made for family members. Toni had a passion for flowers and gardening. In her later years she read voraciously (especially steamy romance novels). Mom loved spending time with family at her cabin, taking long pontoon rides and viewing beautiful sunsets at the lake.

Leona is survived by five children: Robert (Etta) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Gregory (Linda) of Robbinsdale, MN, Vicki (David) Bowe of Moorhead, MN, Scott (Jane) of Eden Prairie, MN and Bradley (Pamela) of Plymouth, MN.

Grandchildren: Jodi (Sean) Kennedy, Matthew (Angie) Horner, Carmen (Dallas) Gobble, Kimberly (Shane) Dooley, Andrew (Diane) Horner, Jonathan(Julie) Horner, Christopher (Anna) Bowe, Jason (Sarah) Bowe, Kelsey (Matt) Severance, Ryan Horner, Natalie (Matt) Soper and Nicholas Horner. 18 Great Grandchildren: Jerzie & Jaze Horner, Darrin Gobble, Cheyenne VanVickle, Rayanne, Justin & Paige Dooley, Lucas & Logan Horner, McKenzie & Eli Horner, Evelyn & Vivian Bowe, Lincoln & Oliver Bowe, Blake Severance and Lucas & Maya Soper.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 50 years, Marion Robert "Pat" Horner; mother: Sarah; father: Daniel; brothers: Clarence, Harold, Lyle, LeRoy; sisters: Esther, Grace, Martha & Velma.

Memorial Service Saturday, 9/22/18, 11AM, Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 6000 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Center with visitation 1 hr. prior to service.
