Janis K. (Nelson) Nepsund

Janis K. (Nelson) Nepsund, age 80, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026 at home surrounded by family after completing her journey with ALS.

She was born June 11, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Marge Nelson and her brother, Gary Nelson.

Because of her love for children, she was a family day care provider for 32 years.  Jan volunteered and led many committees at Advent Lutheran Church, Families Supporting Adoption and U of M Home Extension.  Jan's greatest love was spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed hosting and planning parties for family and friends.  Curt and Jan had the pleasure of traveling to 6 of the 7 continents and also had many adventures camping throughout the U.S.

Jan is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Curt Nepsund, and her wonderful children, daughter Tonya Halpern (Jason) and son Travis Nepsund (Dawn); 4 grandchildren, Hannah, Collin, Jackson, and Kiana; sister-in-law, Sue Nelson; and many other family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Advent Lutheran Church, 9475 Jefferson Hwy., Maple Grove, MN 55369.  Visitation at 9:30 AM and service at 11:00 AM.  

The family requests memorial contributions to be made in Jan's memory to Advent Lutheran Church or The ALS Association.
