James "Jim" Ostrom

James "Jim" Ostrom, age 84, of Maple Grove, MN, passed away peacefully with family by his side on February 27, 2026.

Jim was born on March 15, 1941, in Brainerd, MN to Elvert and Beatrice Ostrom. He was the third of four children and raised in the rural village of Baxter, MN. He had many fond memories of growing up in Baxter with his family and developing life-long friendships.

He attended the Baxter School, then a small country schoolhouse, and graduated from Brainerd High School in 1959. After high school, he attended Brainerd Community College, and served as a member of the Minnesota National Guard.

On September 26, 1964, Jim married Jacquelyn, who he met at Brainerd High School. Together they shared 62 years of marriage and raised two children. At the age of 28, Jim accepted Christ as his personal savior. This step of faith was central in all aspects of his life.

In 1972, Jim moved his family from Baxter to pursue a career in food service, sales, and sales management. During the years, the family resided in Owatonna and Marshall, Minnesota. He and his wife also resided in Plymouth prior to moving to Maple Grove.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Merle and Doug, and his sister Elva (Walter) Schultz.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jacquelyn; son Christopher Ostrom; daughter Amy (Kerry) Kosbau; and grandchildren, John Kosbau, Nicholas Kosbau, and Megan (Marcus) Connell.

Jim's legacy is one of leading by example, practicing his faith, loving his family unconditionally, and humbly serving others. He always had a smile and a listening ear.

Funeral Service 11:00 AM on Monday, March 23, 2026. at Maple Ridge Church, 13400 Maple Knoll Way, Maple Grove, MN. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM prior to the service. Luncheon following the service. Private interment.
