Obituary for James F. Weber

After living with challenges of a stroke suffered in June 2010, Jim peacefully passed away on December 16, 2018.

Jim was born to Edward and Elizabeth Weber in Maple Grove, MN on June 8th, 1932. Jim grew up there on the family farm with his brother Ed and sisters Lilian and Barbara. Jim graduated from Osseo Senior High school in 1950 and received his technical schooling in Chicago from 1950-1951. He jouned the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in Korea until his discharge in 1954. After working at Graco for a number of years he was hired to start the Fluid Power Program at the new Hennepin Technical College in Eden Prairie in 1972. Jim taught and enriched the lives of hundreds of technical students there until his retirement.

During his life Jim was involved with the Minnesota and Maple Grove Historical Societies and authored a oral history book about growing up in rural Minnesota during the 30's & 40's entitled "Will The Chicken Be With Grandma?". He was a big fan of big brunches, making flower beds, had a brilliant technical mind and enjoyed having a good chat and a laugh with any and all people.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Edward & Elizabeth Weber, his first wife Grace and sister Barbara. He is survived by his wife Cecelia "Sally" Phelps and his daughter De Ann (Carol Olson) and sons Joseph and Daniel; 10 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held at Discover Church in Brooklyn Park on Dec. 19th at 11 AM. Visitation 1 hr. prior to service at church.

Private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

I just can't say enough about the help we received in planning my husband's funeral at the Osseo Evans Nordby funeral home.
