They missed home so when his term was up, they headed back to Minnesota. In 1959, they built a home in Crystal, MN where they would raise their five daughters. In 1965 they built a cabin on Lake Amelia near Glenwood, MN. In 1979 they moved to Brooklyn Park. In 1995 the love of her life Charlie passed away from cancer. She met a new friend in a grief group at church. In time, this friend would become the second love of her life. Marvin Greenwald and Iva were together 17 years. They enjoyed many adventures on his Harley motorcycle traveling from the east to west coast.

Iva was a member of Cross of Glory Lutheran Church. She enjoyed helping with the rummage sale and quilting. She also volunteered at CEAP where she sorted food and clothing for those in need.
Iva enjoyed gardening, traveling, scrapbooking, family heritage, reading, shopping, collecting roosters, taking care of her white cat, Miss Kitty, making lefse and going to craft sales with her family. Iva loved giving gifts. Mostly, Iva loved doing things with her family and she would do anything for them. Family was a priority in her life.
