Obituary for Ione Marie (Paulson) Dusek

Ione Marie (Paulson) Dusek passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 21, 2017 in Brooklyn Park, MN at the age of 71, under the care of North Memorial Hospice. Ione was born on April 18, 1946 in Sharon, North Dakota to Walter and Lillian (Trostad) Paulson. She graduated from Kloten High School and Mayville State College with an English Degree. Ione spent a summer in Carbondale, IL taking some college classes and acting in a Summerstock production. She married Lucas Dusek on September 8, 1967. Ione traveled to Okinawa, Japan to join her husband, who was stationed there with the US Navy. Her first daughter, Audra, was born while they were stationed in Okinawa. They were relocated to Virginia, where their next three daughters, Carrie, Erin and Pamela were born. Eventually, the family relocated to Barnesville, MN, where their youngest two daughters, Quincy and Shea joined the family. Due to employment opportunities, the family moved to Horace, ND and then Fargo, ND. In January of 1982 Ione and Luke divorced and she became a single mother of six active daughters. Over the years, Ione and her children moved to West Fargo, ND; Plymouth, MN; and Bloomington, MN. Ione continued on to Wayzata, MN and finally to Osseo, MN. Ione had a variety of jobs throughout her life. She began as a teacher, worked in a nursing home, and in real estate. Many of her years were spent in the insurance industry. Often, she held two jobs to support her family. She retired from Met Life as an underwriter. Ione had many interests and hobbies over the years. She loved a variety of music, from Tennessee Ernie Ford to Michael Jackson and enjoyed acting and square dancing (where she added her own flair to the dances). She liked watching movies, reading, playing board games and putting together puzzles. One of her quiet passions was drawing and her favorite flower was the daisy. Ione spent many years in Toastmasters while in West Fargo, ND. Ione made a difference and touched lives everywhere she went. She worked hard and exhibited compassion and a strong sense of ethics in everything she did. Ione was a strong and humble woman that will long be remembered and will continue to shape the lives of those she has left here on earth. Ione is survived by her six daughters, Audra and Dan Freeman and their children Zachary, Joshua and Cassandra of Moorhead, MN, Carrie Dawn of Savage, MN and her children Daniel, Ashley, and Calais, Erin and Rob Morrison and their children Alexander, Spencer, Rebecca and Jack of Osceola, WI, Pamela and Matthew Majkozak and their children Colby, Madison, and Josephine of Maple Grove, MN, Quincy and Jeff Conrad and their children Trevor, Preston, and Dylan of Roberts, WI, Shea and Chris Scott and their daughter, Evelynn of Savage, MN; and her sisters Wanda (Richard) Thompson, Verna (Robert) Lindvall, Susan Richardson, and Jayme (Kim) Krsnak.
