Grace Kalleberg
Grace Kalleberg
November 5, 1924 - January 27, 2019
Grace Esther Kalleberg, age 94, of Buffalo, formerly of Brooklyn Center, passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2019.
Preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Kalleberg; parents, Esther and Arthur Miller; brothers, Morrie (Helen) Miller, Burton and William Miller; sisters, Ruth Hammerstrom (Lawrence), Margaret Peterson (Charles) and Marilyn Anderson (Thor); and son-in-law, Randy Stevens.
Survived by daughter, Susan Stevens; sons, Philip (Julie) and Timothy; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Paul), Kelsey, Dylan (Kristina), Kayla (Corey), Katy (Wyatt); seven great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
Grace was a bookkeeper for IDS until she decided to stay home and raise her family when Susan arrived in 1961.
Grace (and Kermit) were active members of Cross of Glory Lutheran Church which she cherished as her home away from home. Always busy in her bible circle group and helping around the church in any way she was needed. Her unwavering faith and commitment to Jesus Christ guided Grace throughout her life.
Grace loved spending time with family, and she loved to play piano, paint, crochet, cook for her family and keep a lid on 3 active kids. She crocheted and knitted until her hands and eyes wouldn't allow it any longer. She always strove to be as good as her grandmother and mother at this special skill.
Grace and Kermit’s marriage was the epitome of a faith based, love filled partnership and their love for each other was unwavering and a joy to witness. In 64 years of marriage they never once had a cross word for each other. They were the perfect fit for each other and complemented each other in so many ways. Grace never liked to drive, so Kermit did. Dad couldn't cook a lick, so mom took the lead.
Grace will be missed by all but her legacy lives on in the life lessons she taught to so many. Not by scolding but by setting an example of how to treat others and how her love of Jesus Christ comforted her until the end.
Services for Grace will be at 11 AM Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, 5929 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center, MN, with a visitation at 10 AM and fellowship after the service. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis following the fellowship lunch.
