Obituary for Gerald Sherman VanTassel, Sr.

Gerald Sherman VanTassel, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at North Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family on April 17, 2022. Gerald was born July 29, 1933 in Mpls. to Evan & Sophia. Jerry and wife Joan live in Brooklyn Center for 60+ years, they also had a cbin and business in Siren, Wi where they made many friends. Jerry had a great love for sports, his #1 passion was the Minnesota Vikings, he has been a season ticket holder for 56 years. He greatly enjoyed outdoors and acitivties with family and friends. He worked for Western Electric for many years until retirement in 1982.

Preceded in death by his parents and wife of 42 years, Joan.

Survived by his children, Scott (Jean) Larson, Kent (Cheryl) Larson, Greg (Ruth-Anne) Larson, Lori (Ron) Heller, and Shari VanTassel (Tony Herker), Cynthia Cheney (Brad), Ronald VanTassel (Cathy), Suzanne Olson (Jim), Catherine Stratton (Mike), Charles VanTassel (Sandi), Gerald VanTassel, Jr. (Barb); many grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and siblings, Lowell (Diane) VanTassel, Stephen (Mary Ann) VanTassel, Sandra Marxen, and Ruth Nelson.

Service 11 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 6000 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment 2:30 PM Cambridge Union Cemetery, Cambridge - please meet at the cemetery.
