Fred D. Valker
Fred D. Valker
September 6, 1930 - June 15, 2026
Life of the party bowls final frame. Fred Dewey Valker of Brooklyn Center, MN squeezed everything out of life for 95 years—as a racecar driver, Navy veteran, husband, dad, business owner, bowling buddy, fun uncle, and teller of many an off-color joke.
Born in Hutchinson in 1930 to Graciela and Fred Valker, he lost his father at age two, later moved to the Twin Cities, graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1949, and served in the Navy. In 1955 he married the cheerleader, Audrey Raskob and together they built a home in Brooklyn Center and raised three kids.
At 95, he outlived nearly everyone he knew. Audrey, his siblings Bob and Phyllis and his daughter Vicki died at 19. Fred's big heart lives on in his surviving family: Daughter Julie (Joe) Wiatros, Son David (Molly), grandkids Brenden (Kayla) and Emma Johnson (Gage), and great-grandkids Everly and Rowan. Many nieces, nephews, and those who thought of Fred as a second grandpa. With his life, he scored the perfect game.
Funeral on Wednesday, 6/24/26. Visitation at 9 AM, service at 10:30 AM., Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 6000 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center. Interment to follow the service at Gethsemane Cemetery, New Hope.
