Father Everett J. Trebtoske, age 89, formerly of St .Cloud passed away peacefully in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota on February 14, 2016. Born and raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota where he attended St. John Cantius Church and School. He attended St. Cloud Tech High School and after moving to New Hampshire, graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1944. Following a stint in the U.S. Navy Air Corp during WWII, he attended and graduated from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. He then worked at the Catholic Worker in New York City with Dorothy Day. After New York he worked for Boys Town in Nebraska. After Boys Town he entered St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston, Texas and was ordained a priest on May 23, 1959. He celebrated his first mass at St. John Cantius Church in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He served God in parishes in Bryan, Austin, Elgin, Manor, Killeen, Houston, Wimberley, other cities in Texas, and Juneau and other cities in Alaska. Father celebrated his 50th anniversary as a priest at St. Mary’s Church, Wimberley, Texas in 2009. In 2012, following a short stay at Deer Creek of Wimberley, Wimberley, Texas, Father moved to reside at St. Therese at Oxbow Lake Care Center, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
Preceded in death by parents Peter and Frances (Kmitch) Trebtoske, brother Eugene, and sisters Joan Trebtoske Jenks and Mary Ann Trebtoske Harrison.
Survived by brother, Peter Trebtoske; sister Bernadette O’Connor, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, Father requested his friends to make memorial donations to Fisher House Foundation (for families of wounded soldiers).
