Elizabeth "Betsy" Turcotte

Elizabeth “Betsy” Turcotte, age 84 of Maple Grove, passed away on July 3, 2026. Survived by children, Dan (Melynda), Debbie; grandchildren; & great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, David; & son, Dave. 

“It is with a very heavy heart that I share the following news…My mom, Betsy Turcotte, passed away Friday morning, July 3rd…The last 6 months or so have been a very difficult time. In December of 2025, she was hospitalized for almost a month, in which we were told she had Congestive Heart Failure, A-fib, along with other complications as well. That was the beginning of a tough battle, which she fought as hard as she could. Sadly, after what was her 4th (possibly 5th) hospital stay, she agreed it was not safe for her to keep coming back to the house which has 2 sets of stairs, and was becoming increasingly difficult for her. She was admitted to a nursing home close to home exactly a week before her heart finally gave out… Her decline was quicker than we expected, but she was ready…she was exhausted and tired of fighting, and she was ready to join my Dad, my older brother, and of course Nick and other loved ones. She fought till the end! It will take some time for us to realize our mom, aka Grannybird/grandma, is now gone…It was a blessing having her for our mom, and she was loved by all her grandkids, great grandkids, and family members, and so many friends! Her absence is already felt… We will miss her beautiful heart, her feistiness lol, her sense of humor, and her love…I saw my first butterfly of the year yesterday…I do believe it was her paying a little visit, just letting me know that she will always be around. I love you, Mom…Thank you for everything…You will be remembered always!!”

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30AM Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave N., Brooklyn Park, with visitation 1 hour prior to mass at church. In honor of Betsy, please dress casually in her favorite colors, pinks and purples. 

Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery on Aug. 26, 2026 at 11AM. Lane assignment is pending, check back for updates.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
