Obituary for Eleanor Otremba

Otremba, Eleanor M (Ellie)

Our dearly loved Ellie, age 84, peacefully passed away June 4, 2021.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave N in Brooklyn Park with visitation prior to the service starting at 9:30am and luncheon to follow. Private Burial will be at Fort Snelling.

Born to Peter and Mary Schmitt in St Martin MN on May 1, 1937. She was united in Marriage on June 22, 1957, to Don Otremba and they had 6 children together. Lived in Brooklyn Center until they retired to North Long Lake near Brainerd and spent the last couple years at The Willows Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove.

Ellie was our medical miracle as she survived a brain aneurysm in 1997 giving her the opportunity to enjoy more time with family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving and supportive mom and grandma that loved to spend time sewing, quilting, doing crafts, bowling and fishing (where she always seemed to catch the most). The last few years, she enjoyed playing Kings Corner, doing puzzles and Sudoku. We will all remember and miss her beautiful smile and her response “okie dokie”.

Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Don, son Paul, parents Peter and Mary Schmitt and siblings: Father Urban, Mildred Dingmann, Sister Claire, Bernice, Sister Miriam, Arnelda Winczewski, Melvin and Wilfred.

Survived by children: Tom (Sandy) Otremba, Duane (Vicki) Otremba, Linda (Dan) Tangren, Chuck (Teresa) Otremba and Patty (Kurt) Maus; grandchildren: Kerianne (Joel) Bernstein, Kyle (Angela) Otremba, Kris (Emmy) Otremba, Aaron Tangren, Jake Tangren, Nolan Otremba, Craig Otremba, Nicole Otremba, Cody Otremba, Haley Maus and Blake Maus; great-grandchildren: Agatha Bernstein, Winifred Bernstein, Lukas Otremba and Nora Otremba. siblings; Joe Schmitt, Father Silverius Schmitt and Louise Heurung.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to The Willows of Arbor Lakes staff for their care and love for Ellie.

It is a place of compassion, sincerity, professionalism, and staff who go above and beyond their call of duty. Our family has sadly used both chapels over the past months. The caring did not stop after the services. They offer their continued compassion to adults and children. With grateful hearts thank you.
