Edward R. Shamory

Edward Ray Shamory, 83, of Dayton, MN, passed away peacefully on July 26th, 2025 in his home. He was born on March 22nd,1942 in South Bend, Indiana. Ed was the son of Leo Shamory and Hazel Yazel.

Ed grew up in South Bend, Indiana and graduated from High School in 1960. After graduation he entered the Air Force. On July 15th, 1967, he married Roberta Reismiller, who he had met in Fairmount, Indiana. After his retirement, they lived in Murfreesboro, TN for 35 years.  In 2020 they moved to Dayton, MN to be closer to Dawn, Ken, Carys and Karli.  Together they shared 58 years of marriage until her passing on March 26th, 2025.

Ed served in the Air Force for 25 years where he worked as an Air Traffic Control Operator, retiring as Master Sergeant.  His time in the Air Force included tours in Japan, Korea, Panama Canal Zone and numerous US bases. Following his retirement, Ed enjoyed sitting at the airport watching planes while Roberta sat next to him reading her books.  They also stayed busy with embroidery and crochet projects, selling their wares at local craft fairs. He also loved watching the Atlanta Braves of the MLB, any Notre Dame Sports teams, and the Indiana Fever of the WNBA.

Ed is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Ken) Turner; grandchildren, Carys (Collin Madden) and Karli Turner; many nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; parents, Leo and Hazel Shamory; and in-laws, Paul Reismiller and Barbara Line; and siblings, Dorothy (James) Edwards, Jim (Phyllis) Shamory, Roy (Shirley) Shamory, and Edna (Henry) Barreth
