Obituary for Earl E. Martens

Age 79 of Maple Grove, died 6/14 at his home, surrounded by family. Preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Elden and Alvina Martens. Earl was raised in KS, NE and MN. He received his B.A. from Valpo, M.A. at University of MO. Shortly after graduation, served in the Army for 2 years primarily in Korea. In 1972 he met Mary (another pastor kid) and they married in 1973. Together 49 years they shared joys and sorrows, including disability over the last years of his life. It was a long and hard goodbye. Earl worked in sales until he found his entrepreneurial calling: he started Moorefield Group in '96, a water treatment business. He had many customers, dear friends across the Midwest. He believed in the nobility of craftsmanship and took pride in a job well done, no matter how small. Earl's final months were eased by tender care from Allina Hospice. Survived by wife Mary, daughter Monica Hoversten (Shane), son Eric (Sabine) and grandson, Vincent. Siblings Gary (Sandy), Raymond (Prisca), and Helen Tuttle (Tom). Memorial Service 11 AM Friday, June 30 at Shepherd of the Grove Lutheran Church, 11875 West Eagle Lake Dr Maple Grove, MN. With visitation at 10 AM and Lunch to following the service at 12 noon. Inurnment at Ft Snelling internment TBD. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to Main Street Living, or Allina Health Foundation, to their Hospice fund.
