Obituary for Duane R. Opsal
Duane Richard Opsal was born on 11/11/1947 in Sisseton, South Dakota and passed away at home after a 6 year battle with cancer on 8/16/2018 in St. Michael, Minnesota. Son of Maurice & Arlette (Johnson) Opsal. He graduated from Sisseton High School in 1966; married Judy Feuerstein (of Watertown, South Dakota) on August 14, 1969. They moved to Minneapolis and he worked as supervisor of Tennant Company.
Duane is survived by his loving wife Judy; sons, Monty (Sherry) & Brad; grandchildren, Cody, Kameron, Colton & Kali; sisters, Barb (Richard) Gray, Nova (Truman) Nelson, Sharon (Merle) Schmaus & Cheryl (Jim) Long. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice & Arlette Opsal; brother, Arlyn; and many extended family members.

Evans-Nordby funeral chapel in Osseo, MN handled my husband’s cremation and Celebration of Life service in July of 2023. I can’t say enough positive things about all aspects of my interactions with them. They reached out to help every step of the way—from planning the Celebration of Life service, the service itself, and after care contact. Brittney was the person I primarily worked with. She was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, organized, and had great communication skills, which greatly helped in reducing my stress level. I plan to contact Evans-Nordby soon to pre-plan my own final arrangements.
