Douglas John Scharber, age 99, passed away peacefully Nov. 12, 2019 in Rogers, MN. Douglas was born in Rogers on July 21, 1920. He graduated from Elk River HS. Preceded in death by wife of 74 years, Rhea; parents, Otto & Hazel Scharber; brother, Stanley; granddaughter, Anne Locher; son-in-law, George Locher; and great-grandsons, Callan and Finley Schmickle. Survived by children, Suzanne Rinehart, Steve (Susan), Mary Kay Locher (Bill Mason), Joan Rouillard (Jim), Mark (Joany), Patrick (Patti), Debbie Reemts (Rick); 20 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Grace Heinz; brother-in-law, Lloyd Weber (Patti); brother-in-law, Merlin Dahlheimer.

Doug was a devout Catholic & WWII veteran. His passions included family, time at the lake, traveling by RV, playing cards & spending winters in Estero, FL. He served his community of Rogers as Mayor for 21 years, along with being a firefighter, Rogers Lion & Knights of Columbus member. He was dedicated to his family business, Scharber & Sons, a John Deere Implement Dealership.

Mass of Christian Burial 11AM Saturday, Nov. 16th at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 21304 Church Ave., Rogers with visitation 2 hours prior to Mass at church. Memorials preferred to Mary Queen of Peace.
