Donald Lang

Donald Ferdinand Lang, age 97 of Minneapolis, MN passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026 in the presence of family. Donald was born on August 2, 1929 at home in North Minneapolis to Benedict and Helen (Kardong) Lang. Shortly after having eye surgery at the age of two, he attended a sight saving school until going to Sheridan Jr. High before attending Vocational High School/Trade School in Minneapolis. He graduated in 1949. His first job was in 1943 working for Palmes Bakery, followed by various other jobs before starting at Honeywell in 1951.

On July 3, 1954 he married La Verne Czech at St. Philips Catholic Church in North Minneapolis. They raised three children, Audrey Marie born in 1955, Dale John born in 1960 and Carol Ann in 1963.

Dad loved getting together with family, ballroom dancing, grouse hunting with his brothers, even though it was more about being together than actually hunting for Dad. He was quite the handyman at fixing almost anything and loved working on wood projects since after high school he took woodworking as a trade at Vocational.

Our fondest memories of dad were how he loved to joke and sing “barbershop” with his brothers. He worked for Honeywell for 41 years before retiring in 1992. He was a very religious man all his life. He would always say, “family is the most important thing and a family that prays together, stays together.” He will be greatly missed.

Funeral service is Friday, September 11, 2026 with Mass at 10:30 am at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn Park, MN. Visitation 9:30am -10:30 am prior to service. Private burial to follow at St. Edward’s Cemetery, 8550 MN-238, Elmdale, MN at 2:30 pm.
