Obituary for Donald "Jerry" Kivi

Age 84 of Eagan passed away on December 30, 2023. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Deanna; sons David (Jill), Steven, Paul (Sandy) and Joel (Jeanne); nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

After graduating from Cokato High school at the age of 16, he earned his bachelors degree in Mathematics from the University of MN. He worked for Lockheed Martin as a Computer Programmer from 1963-1997. After retirement, he volunteered at Rahn Elementary School Media Center in Eagan for 18 years before his re-retirement. He loved seeing the kids, organizing books and greeting each student by name. The media center was renamed the Jerry Kivi Media Center in 2016. He was an unwavering family man and derived most of his joy from his wife, sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed puzzles, sports and self-deprecating stories of his past.

I highly recommend the team at Evans Nordby. This past weekend, they assisted as we buried my mom. Twelve years ago, they assisted as we buried my dad. Brittney and the staff are so comforting, easy to work with and compassionate. They make every decision simple, and the whole process as painless as possible. I am so happy that we chose this funeral home, and encourage you to consider using them in your time of need.
