Dennis "Denny" Smith

February 1, 1941 - May 30, 2018

Dennis "Denny" Smith a fifty year resident of Brooklyn Center, passed away on May 30, 2018, at age 77. For two years he bravely dealt with a rare cancer and died peacefully at home with family.

Denny was raised on a farm in western Minnesota and graduated from West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN. He spent four years in the United States Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Hector and the U.S.S. Tolovana. Over the years he enjoyed hunting and fishing trips, football, Louis L’Amour novels and teasing his grandkids!

Denny took pride in continuing his family’s tradition of making German Springerle Christmas cookies, he also made a mean pot of chili! Denny was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

He is survived by Kathy, his spouse of 54 years. Also by children Mike (Judy), Kevin (Joan), Julie (Tom) Wolfe, Kyle (Shelley) and Kurt (Kathy). He is further survived by grandchildren Alex, Samantha, Lyla; Nick (Julissa), Ben, Abby; Dustin, Emily, Caroline; Nate, Kaila, Megan, Paige; Izora, Eliza; and great-grandchild Everett Dennis Smith. Also survived by a brother, two sisters, in-laws, nieces & nephews.

Per Denny’s wishes there will be a private family burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. The family would like to thank Patty, Wilder & Lyndra of North Memorial Hospice. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to North Memorial Hospice, 3500 France Ave N, Suite 101, Robbinsdale, MN 55422.
