David Bryan, 64, of Plymouth, Minnesota, passed away August 22, 2018.
Born in Bremerton, Washington on September 6, 1953 to the late Maurice and Elaine Bryan, he later moved to Richfield, Minnesota where he attended Richfield High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1972 where he met his wife, Ruth Bryan, whom he married on June 23, 1982 in Wichita, Texas.
David is a veteran of the Gulf War and served honorably with the Army for 20 years, during which time he earned several medals and honors, including the Bronze Star, a Valorous Unit Award and a Kuwait Liberation Medal. Following his retirement from the Army as a First Sergeant, David attended Cameron University where he graduated in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems. Following graduation, he worked in various fields, including banking, telecommunications and healthcare and retired from United Health Group in 2016.
David enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, golfing, watching movies, traveling, and cuisine of all kinds. He had a giving heart and actively served in his community as a volunteer at the Brooklyn Park Veteran Center, Feed My Starving Children, and Maple Ridge Church, as well as abroad through mission trips, most recently to the Dominican Republic.
David was preceded in death by his father, Maurice; his biological mother, Elaine; and his brother, Patrick. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ruth; his daughter, Katherine (Aaron); his son, Mark (Nicole); his mother, Yvonne; and his loving siblings, nieces, nephews and numerous other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Maple Ridge Church, 13400 Maple Knoll Way, Maple Grove, Minnesota 55369 on August 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Public visitation will be held at the church immediately preceding the service from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with full military honors at 2:00 PM. Flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be sent to Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV); www.mac-v.org. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Evans-Nordby Funeral Home in Osseo.
