Darlene Rose Peterson, age 75, passed away on June 7, 2026.
Darlene was born on December 6, 1950, to Martin and Rose Halvorson. She grew up on her family's farm west of Madison, Minnesota. Darlene attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Madison High School in 1968.
A proud farm girl, Darlene developed a love for livestock at an early age. In 1967, she achieved a remarkable accomplishment when, with her Hereford heifer, Millie, she won First Place in the Horned Hereford category at the Minnesota State Fair and ultimately earned Grand Champion honors over all breeds.
Darlene met the love of her life, Roger Peterson, through a mutual friend at the Minneapolis Grain Exchange. The two were married in 1984 and built a life centered on faith, family, and the farm they cherished in Mora, Minnesota. Following their marriage, Darlene became a member of Family of God Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ruth Circle for several years.
Darlene enjoyed spending time at the family farm in Mora, visiting relatives in Madison, and fishing whenever she had the opportunity. Above all else, she treasured her family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she loved each of them dearly.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Peterson; her parents, Martin and Rose Halvorson; and her brothers, Myron Halvorson and Orvin Halvorson. She is survived by her brother, Boise (CheeChee) Halvorson; her son, Pat Horn; her son, Ryan (Katie) Peterson; and her beloved grandchildren, Kyle, Kayleigh, Kayden, and Kelden Horn, and Morgan and Curtis Peterson.
Darlene will be remembered for her kindness, devotion to family, strong faith, and deep roots in the farming communities she loved. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
