Obituary for Daniel Gonior

Our world has lost another of its dearest and gentlest beings when Daniel Walter Gonior, of Osseo, passed on December 9th, 2022. He came into this world too early as a baby and left us too soon as a man. Born prematurely, his life was saved many times, being baptized in the ICU nursery at North Memorial Hospital - all 2+ pounds of him. He thrived and became a delightful addition to our family and the world!

He was raised and lived in Osseo most of his life, brought up religiously at Osseo United Methodist Church and graduated through Osseo schools. With his quick smile and clever humor he made many close friends; with his generous and loving nature he was always helping others - giving money to people in need and leaving his change on the top of vending machines at stores (like Dean’s Supermarket) “for the kids”! Always willing to help, his kindness and understanding nature was a true gift he used freely!

He loved to cook and thoroughly enjoyed his time as “chef” at Duffy’s Bar & Grill in Osseo, receiving high praise from his satisfied customers! His world of online gaming gave him a close knit group of dear friends across the country - where he’ll always remain “DUB” in their eyes! An avid sports fan, he spent many days and evenings rooting for his favorite Minnesota teams (except for the time Garnett went to the Celtics!) Often winning…or not, he spent hours dedicated to his Fantasy Football leagues.

His artistic talent and problem solving abilities were remarkable and helpful, especially at his workplace, Redwood Signs of Osseo then becoming a part of Quality Manufacturing of Saint Paul. He worked for over 20 years, many of those with his dear friend Matt, where he cared for everyone and where he was cared for! He loved working with his hands and created many treasures for so many people, in addition to “artistic” signs for cabin owners to the new football stadium - always achieving his eye for perfection.

Daniel will spend eternity with his loving father, Walter, and together they will await the coming of his adoring mom, (“Moller Moller”) Barb, precious sisters Kate and Jessie, closest and lifelong friend Rich (daughter Esmae) and his special furry pal Stash!

May God bless all of our wonderful family (the Cheney’s and the Gonior’s) and precious friends for their love, support, care, prayers and so much more! You all made this unexpected loss endurable.

Memorial service to follow.

Our son recently passed away and of course you never expect to have to deal with this for your children so my wife and I were not only devastated but didn’t know what to do or where to turn next. Evans-Nordby was recommended to us by our Priest and I’m so glad he did. From the moment I talked to Tina on the phone I could tell we were in good hands as she took care of every detail. We met with her the next day and she went through all the aspects of what we were to expect in the coming days, weeks, then months ahead. Every employee we had contact with at Evans-Nordby was kind, compassionate and extremely professional. Thanks Tina and to all at Evans-Nordby for making an unbearable experience at least tolerable.
