Constance May LaMere
May 19, 1949 - January 18, 2026
Our dearly loved mother Constance (Connie) May (Glimsdale) LaMere passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 76. Connie was born in Minneapolis on May 19, 1949, to Ina Mabel (Felix) and Clarence Edward Glimsdale. She attended Patrick Henry High School, meeting her husband Thomas there and graduating Class of 1967.
Growing up as the only sister in a house full of brothers shaped Connie into the strong, compassionate woman she became. She was loved by her brothers - Charles, Thomas, Rollie, David, and Joseph - and she loved them just as fiercely in return.
In addition to raising a family, Connie was an extremely skilled seamstress, doing this professionally for many years and sewing and mending items for family and friends' countless times. Her creativity also showed in her paintings, a talented artist in watercolor, oil, and pastel. Her painting subjects were often from travel experiences or from the beauty of nature which she so enjoyed.
Exploring her family history was another deep interest and talent of Connie's. Beginning genealogy researching over 40 years ago, her attention to details and the ability to ferret out information served her well. Researching her family tree brought her joy and meaningful connections with others. Through that research, Connie was involved in documenting the history of the Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Tribal Community, a history which developed into large panels displayed at various community activities.
She shared good times and laughter with her many cousins, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She treasured her time with the 'Tea Ladies', a group that meant a great deal to her and with whom she shared friendship, support, and many cherished memories. She also maintained lasting friendships with dear companions from different seasons of her life, always valuing time spent together over conversation, shopping, or shared creativity.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Francis Glimsdale and beloved husband Thomas Michael LaMere. Connie will be laid to rest beside Thomas at Fort Snelling National Cemetery where he has been waiting for her.
She is survived by her son Michael LaMere; her daughter, Carey LaMere; her daughter-in-law, Aimee LaMere; and her cherished grandchildren, Thomas LaMere and Anna LaMere, whom she loved deeply and spoke of often.
Her strength, intelligence, humor, and love will be sorely missed.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Sunday, March 8 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home located at 6000 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429. Refreshments will be provided as family, and friends gather to share stories and honor her memory.
