Colleen Klein

Colleen Patricia Klein 

July 15th 1954 – September 2nd 2026 

Born to James & Delores Williams in Minneapolis, MN. Colleen was the eldest and guiding compass of 3 younger brothers (Richard “Rick”, Thomas “Tom” & Martin ”Marty”). Throughout the years Colleen has brought a constant desire to learn and help others learn. From teaching herself to sew and knit as a child to teaching others to make fresh bread.  

Colleen started out her career at Len Busch Roses in Sales. Shortly after starting she met the love of her life and husband Ken Klein. After having children (Kate & Mariah Klein) and having difficulty finding consistent and good childcare, she decided to switch careers and start her own at home daycare. In doing so she opened her home to other families facing the same struggle. Offering them a warm and welcoming home, with the care that she provided. Colleen would often put on programs for the children she provided care to giving them constant opportunities to learn and grow. Whether that was teaching them to make bread or field trips to wildlife sanctuaries to learn about wild animals in our area. While doing all of this, Colleen continued her education, earning herself a Master of Education focusing on Special Education and Native American Studies. Colleen made another career change to become a Special Education Teacher at different schools throughout the Twin Cities. Often going above and beyond to find fun ways for her students to learn.  

When Colleen wasn’t busy working or attending classes, Colleen would often be found doing something creative. Colleen loved the Fiber Arts, from growing her own Flax to make linen fabric to processing her own wool to make yarn. Colleen never hesitated about taking the time to spread her love of the creative arts to others by hosting knitting/spinning clubs or volunteering at a hospital to teach soon-to-be new moms to knit while they waited for their little ones to arrive. Colleen would also utilize her love of the Fiber arts to give back to the community by making over 500 baby hats. There was seldom a time when she wasn’t working on something. Colleen would always take her projects on the road with her when traveling. Spending nights out in the woods knitting around a campfire.  

Throughout her life she touched the lives of countless people from young to old and will be greatly missed by those that new her, even those that had known her for a short while. Colleen was proceeded in death by her Mother, Father, & Daughter (Mariah Klein). 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 11AM at the Church of St. Gerard Majella, 9600 Regent Ave N., Brooklyn Park, with visitation starting 1 hour prior to Mass at 10AM.
