Obituary for Charles "Billy" Kyllonen

Kyllonen, Charles (Billy) age 84 of Brooklyn Park, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2019. Born to Charles and Mary Kyllonen on August 13, 1934, he grew up on a farm west of Menahga, MN. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked at Minnegasco for 36 years retiring in 1996. He was a tireless worker, could fix anything from dishwashers to sauna stoves and loved telling jokes. While admittedly the jokes may have not always been funny, it was his delivery and genuine joy of telling the joke that made you laugh, often times before he even delivered the punch line. He loved the many trips to Hawaii with Nancy and other friends and family to escape Minnesota winters. In the summer he loved spending time at their cabin outside of Spooner, WI. He kept busy chopping wood, maintaining all the power engines like the ATV, chainsaw, wood splitter and pontoon engine and putzed around with general cabin maintenance. Billy loved attending his grandkid’s events whether it was a band or choir concert or many sporting events. He also had a soft spot for Murphy and Jax, his grand-dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Nancy Kyllonen; son Paul, daughter Sarah (Neal Bernards), son Erick (Jennifer Michels); sister MaryJane Bohjanen; sister-in-law Gloria Ollila; grandkids Asher, Owen, Levi and Lilah; grand-dogs, Jax and Murphy. He was preceded in death by brother Russell Kyllonen, sister Luella Kuismi and 2 brothers-in-law.

I just can't say enough about the help we received in planning my husband's funeral at the Osseo Evans Nordby funeral home. It was a very difficult time and they were so caring, sensitive, helpful and very organized in making the funeral go smoothly. The funeral home in Osseo felt so welcoming and comfortable also. Tina was extremely helpful in guiding our family with planning the funeral and went out of her way in finding the right memorial folder for my husband. I would highly recommend them. Thank you all.
